Finding the Soul-YOU-tions withIn

We can look at so many reasons for the various health crises and interpersonal conflicts we continue to find ourselves facing: economic, political, technological, interpersonal, cultural, but under all that, I see a lack of individual self-awareness, a discombobulated sense of oneself, where we’re taught to seek the answers outside of ourselves not only at a young age, but continually throughout our development. Instead of being encouraged to cultivate a stronger, more confident and whole identity, we’re over-inundated with misleading, dubious messages that bring us to a confused sense of who and what we are and are supposed to be. We don’t spend enough time alone with our mind, body, and spirit (unplugged if you will). Sir Isaac Newton put it well when he stated, “Truth is the offspring of silence and meditation.” I also think Khalil Gibran nails it in The Prophet when he writes “A seeker of silences am I, and what treasure have I found in silences that I may dispense with confidence.” It is critical that we manage the internal and external distractions to get deep within ourselves and channel into the resources that can genuinely nurture that sense of i and I.

Letter to the President-elect

Dear Donald,

Congratulations on your victory, Mr. President-elect! May you perform the duties that await you with sincerity, probity, conviction, and valor. Indeed, great concerns loom with your forthcoming role as the President of the United States of America, as with any incoming President, yet I am looking at your nomination as the leader of my homeland with optimism, albeit gravely cautious after initial trepidation.

The Donald Trump I have come to know these past three and a half decades since you appeared in my nomadic youth growing up in California, Colorado, and Massachusetts, and like you, I was born in New York, initiated as “one of the richest men in the country, a powerful business mogul.” Obviously as a constant in the public eye through your grand business ventures, high profile romances, and brash personality, I feel that I have built somewhat of a relationship with you which is a lot more than with any other public official who’s been on significant state or federal ballots for which I’ve had the opportunity to vote except perhaps Arnold Schwarzenegger. My exposure to you through different stages of my life has by far been much more substantial than any other high level elected official.

Your path to the White House certainly has been an interesting one, and now you find yourself at the doorstep of what many consider to be the most powerful and highly influential position in the modern world. The responsibility that comes with being the President is undoubtedly immense and you have garnered the votes to have earned that post for the next four years. While the decisions you make will have a hugely significant impact on not just hundreds of millions of Americans, but billions of people around the world, I am most concerned about how you represent me, my 11-year-old son, and my Afro-Latin Brazilian born and raised wife.

To some degree, your nomination is refreshing, as I don’t see you first as a politician but as a businessman/entertainer, and I hope with that as your professional foundation, you will not be as tied up in the quagmire of corruption and inefficiency that has left me baffled, frustrated, and highly distrustful of the government and in particular the selfish, closed-minded agendas of our political leaders. I also see how your pursuits in attaining the Presidency have raised the energy-level of our fellow Americans and others throughout the world. It is now how we all work together to channel that energy into productive change that we desperately need at this time on various and significant levels of our existence.

Donald Trump, as I have come to know him, is a man who knows how to make money, and lose it as well, is a man who is not afraid to take chances, and has exhibited some very questionable tendencies and characteristics; he is a father, husband, and grandfather, and does not shy away from the limelight. He is the President-elect of my country. What will you do Donald, Mr. Trump, Mr. President-elect, to make our country better, to expand opportunity for Americans to progress socially, financially, mentally, and even spiritually? To connect individuals of our nation despite vast differences, backgrounds, and perspectives, and despite your track record of separatist rhetoric, chauvinistic behavior, and intolerant commentary?

You appear to be who you’ve always been since I became aware of you as a public figure: an impulsive, power-hungry, attention-seeking, greedy narcissist who has demonstrated resilience and an insatiable work ethic with a moral fiber that is highly suspect and judgment based on ego rather than righteousness. Will you perpetuate a world of division, intolerance, and misunderstanding or can my son, wife, and I, along with your own loved ones and the American people, look to you to cultivate further opportunity for all Americans and even worldwide, recognizing the tremendously expansive impact the United States has on an international level? With extensive and distinct undertones of prejudice, racism, narrow-mindedness, chauvinism, and general ignorance pervasive in current American society, much of which I have discerningly noticed you reinforce in speeches, impulsive rants, offensive comments, and utterly inappropriate behavior, I do retain considerable doubt in how you might serve to change unfortunate elements that remain all too prominent in the world as we know it.

I will join forces with you in any way I can, Mr. President-elect, so for at least the next four years and possibly beyond, you and I can support the inhabitants of the United States and world to grow and advance with more efficiency toward the greater destiny for which our planet exists and for which you play an incredibly difficult yet significantly integral part. Before I look to you, though, I will continue to look inside and work at my deepest essence so I can truly understand my purpose and learn to better implement my developing faculties. I will access and utilize the resources to my avail that can encourage and foster a more effective and complete flow toward the ultimate destination; you are going to be one of those resources for me.

I expect that you perform your duties as the President of the United States of America with a willingness to remain open and accessible to all who come calling in the name of goodness, to be respectful of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our people, to handle your tasks with clarity, curiosity, and patience keeping in mind the true objectives by which the United States has become the land of opportunity, and to carry yourself with dignity and grace as the highest representative of the American people and all that our great nation exemplifies.

I have faith and am willing and eager to continue doing my part. I anticipate you, Mr. President-elect, will do everything in your power to do your part. We’re in this together and it will be united, as the first word of the name of our country implies, so we can rise to the challenge, advance, and flourish as individuals, families, communities, and as truly one great Nation “under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

With great conviction and an open heart,

Plz Plz Help da’Poliz…Plz

At this time in the evolution of the Universe, we must flow with purpose, efficiency, purity – more PEP in our STEP – toward the Truth. We cannot continue to get snagged by hate, intolerance, anger, misunderstanding, and ignorance of self and others. With PEP, we can unite as the One we are intended to be and truly R, no longer getting snagged by the human tendency to view others as only physicality, sexuality, mentality, emotionalism.

It starts with SPIRITUALITY. Go inside to piece ourselves out utilizing the great sources of external PEACE so we are able to live more fully as PEP.

I’m just a Rasta Spiritist and a buncha other stuff so what do I know?

I’d like to thank Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, Topper Headon, and MIA for helping me help the poliz and help the cauz for PEACE.

Fresh Quest – For Fresh Breath Day on August 6

The Fresh Quest to a Long-Lasting Fresh Breath

The underlying essence behind National Fresh Breath Day goes well beyond a clean, minty mouth rid of the malodorous particles that can make for an uncompromising  vocal orifice. Exploring what lies beneath the cheeks, palate, tongue, and teeth, and the various food remnants and bacteria that settle there, to consider the connection ‘breath’ shares with ‘spirit’ presents the real meaning of “fresh breath.” The word spirit coming from the Latin spiritus, which means breath, signifies the vital force they hold not as separate entities, but as one, united source of life within each of us. Through breath, the spirit remains joined to the physical vessels our bodies provide to sustain our human existence. Considering the vast and incessant influences upon the breath that can either support it in reaching a fresher state or which may unintentionally or neglectfully serve to delay the onset of freshness by collecting impediments to advancement, it is the primary responsibility of the individual to access resources and employ strategies to freshen the breath or purify the spirit.

It may start with a blast of Binaca, a chomp of your favorite gum, or a complete cleaning by the dental hygienist, but that is just the beginning to get a taste of the oral freshness that will only ensue ephemerally  until consistent efforts are made to more actively establish, refine, and maintain a long-lasting fresh breath. Understanding the contributing factors that can either enhance or inhibit the breath in its “fresh quest,” while also recognizing and embracing the breath itself and what it indeed has to offer are critical elements to more efficiently and effortlessly reach its true goal…that of everlasting freshness. Options and demands, though, are excessive, misleading, and constant, which result in doubt about the best approaches to incorporate along the path to purify the palate. Get back to the breath and heed its call when overcome by uncertainty. Filter out the ubiquitous distractions and shiny gimmicks, and subdue the impulsive tendencies of the 21st century human condition. Now the breath can give rise to be deeper, fresher, and more expansive as it brings the life it cultivates closer to the healthy, fulfilling destiny for which it exists.

Otherwise stick with flossing and mouthwash, which both come in an array of exciting flavors, colors, and types.

The Various Forms of Addiction: Raw, Binding Enslavement

Addiction Marionette

I am vigorously seeking to break the addictive patterns that are propagated and reinforced in society and which are deeply instilled within individuals who struggle to break free from the binding forces such patterns perpetuate.

Addiction takes on an array of forms and often develops with subtle precision, leaving its victims without recourse or understanding. The power of addiction is not simply limited to those who may be perceived as fragile, vulnerable, or weak. Its influence spreads among the vast majority of our population by acceptable and captivating means which relentlessly seize its prey without apparent rhyme or reason.

If we are to make considerable progress to renounce and subdue the addictive forces that permeate our world with ubiquitous savvy, we must meticulously look at the influences within our society that serve to further promote their establishment and inhibit the individual in attaining a more complete and developed sense of him or herself.

Freedom awaits, but one must recognize, admit, open, and painstakingly heal.

MDT – Extenuate, Overcome, and Flow More Freely

One must obtain depth to relieve and overcome the impact of MDT (Mama Drama Trauma), and with that a true sense of freedom and self will emerge.

MDT is not about blaming mother, or the mother figure in your life, necessarily, but learning to recognize the impact such an individual or individuals have had and continue to have on your identity and perspective of the world. Mother is not simply limited to your biological mother, but can be anyone of influence from whom you are hoping to obtain approval, recognition, validation, or acknowledgment.

MDT serves as a basis for so many of the issues that are impeding personal growth, self-awareness, and a more complete and satisfying identity.

You must be more assiduous in your efforts to confront the  effects MDT has had in your life as you strive toward the depths of your inner essence and more freely attain authentic acceptance of your true self.
